David Wright has lived in Tokyo for over twenty years. He speaks Japanese, knows how these places actually function, and has been designing and personally hosting private journeys across Japan and Southeast Asia since 2015.
David's relationship with Asia began as a Yale-in-China Fellow in Hong Kong. More than two decades later, that experience has evolved into a life in Tokyo and a career spent helping guests understand the region beyond its surface.
Many guests return for a second journey. Some begin planning their next trip before the current one ends. Guests travel with David directly — moving through each place with confidence, without managing logistics or second-guessing decisions.

Unlike a self-guided trip, every Cultural Connections Asia journey is personally hosted. If trains are delayed, reservations need to change, documents are lost, or plans need to be adjusted — you have a dedicated host available throughout. You focus on the experience.
